In 1993, The town of Pattonsburg, Missouri suffered a devastating flood- actually 2 floods in a three week period.  The town was so badly damaged that the decision was made to move everybody to higher ground three miles away, and what is now known as "New Pattonsburg" was created.  Many buildings still stand, and a few stubborn residents held on, but it is now practically a ghost town.
